1975 -
Dolemite

Role: Dolemite

In my opinion, Rudy's crowning achievement. if you've never seen a Rudy Ray Moore film, this is the best place to start. It's the man at the top of his game.

1975 -
Monkey Hustle

Role: Glitterin' Goldie

Rudy has a small role in this Yaphet Kotto vehicle. Mostly he's there for comic relief but the role is interesting because it is never clearly understood what he is or what he does. Other noteworthy players are the aforementioned Yaphet Kotto (Live and Let Die, Homicide) and Rosalind Cash (Roc, Family Ties, A Different World)

1976 -
The Human Tornado (Dolemite II)

Role: Dolemite

This second Dolemite feature is probably more of a second adventure and less of a sequel. It is more comical in tone and even features a wise-cracking hillbilly sheriff who chases him throughout the movie (ala Smokey and the Bandit). Some prefer this wackier misadventure to the original Dolemite. Keep your eyes open for a very young, and very bald Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, The Substitute, Oz)

1978 -
Petey Wheatstraw (the Devil's Son In Law)

Role: Petey Wheatstraw

Rudy plays a comedian who, in turn for success on stage, makes a deal with the devil to marry his hideously ugly daughter. Most of the makers of Dolemite and The Human Tornado return to assist Rudy in the production (Jimmy Lynch, Cliff Roquemore, Lady Reed)

1979 -
The Disco Godfather

Role: Tucker Williams

As an ex-cop turned disco DJ, he spins records and shouts the infamous catch-phrase: "Put your weight on it!" Although this movie is as nutty as the rest, it has a positive anti-drug message. The Disco Godather features more appearances by Rudy Ray regulars, Jimmy Lynch, Jerry Jones, Lady Reed, and Cliff Roquemore.
